Multi-Agent System
A multi-agent system is a configuration in which several specialized AI agents cooperate, negotiate, or hand off tasks to one another to accomplish a goal, typically coordinated by a supervisor, router, or shared plan rather than a single all-purpose agent.
The pattern mirrors how human teams work: instead of one generalist, a planner delegates subtasks to focused agents (research, drafting, verification) and composes their outputs. Most production GaaS deployments in 2026 lean on multi-agent designs because narrow, specialized agents are easier to make reliable than one agent trying to do everything.
